Perhaps you have heard the exciting news that Summit Hill Elementary now has a foundation! You may be wondering, Why was it established? . . . What are it’s goals? . . . How can I help?

There are many terrific ideas about how our school can be improved with additional funding, but there is a limited amount of discretionary money available to any school especially in these times of extreme budget constrictions. Generally, each purchase is paid for from a specific budget category, and must be qualified to come out of the Fulton County budget. Our wonderful PTA supports many enrichment programs but there are limitations as to how PTA funds can be spent based on guidelines established by the national PTA organization.

Several Metro Atlanta schools have successfully launched charitable foundations, giving them the ability to raise funds on a greater scale in order to meet the educational enrichment needs of their school community. Summit Hill’s foundation was established at the end of the 08/09 school year, and has spent the last fews months laying the groundwork to enable our school to pursue new heights of academic achievement.

The SHE foundation’s mission is to provide long term support to assure our community of students, educators, and families can continue to implement programs and strategies that maintain and enhance Summit Hill’s excellence and leadership in elementary education.

Our vision recognizes that ensuring Summit Hill’s future success requires the vital collaboration of students, teachers, staff, and parents.

The Summit Hill Foundation is not a part of the Summit Hill PTA, however, they support us and we support them. We are committed to partnering with the PTA as we share a common goal to support and enrich the educational experience of every Summit Hill child.

The foundation’s initial efforts will be to secure funding needed to support the following areas.

Technology
Capital Improvements
Staff Development and teacher grants
Educational Program Enhancements

How can you help? We ask that each SHE family donate a minimum of $75 to the foundation. In these difficult economic times any donation is welcome. If you can give more than the suggested amount that would be much appreciated possibly helping to cover for those families unable to give. Your donation is tax deductible. The Foundation accepts tax-deductible individual donations, employee-matching grants, charitable organization grants, and corporate donations.
